The party started at eight. Why are we going to a bar at ten?

Trent: They're gonna give daddy the Rainman suite, you dig that?
Mike: Do you think we'll get there by midnight?
Trent: Baby, we're going to be up five hundy by midnight!
Mike: Yeeeeaaaaahhhhhh!
Trent: Vegas baby! Vegas!
Mike: Vegas!

-Swingers

The briefest of updates: I heard back from my manager about the Sci-Fi hosting gig. It's all very good news, but I can't talk about it until Monday.

Okay, maybe I can talk about it a little bit: They really liked me.

There are still about a million things that have to happen before it turns into a job for me, but at least I know that they liked me, and liked what I did. That's all I can ask for, right?

Nothing but good mojo going your way.

Now if only I got the channel... ah well.

Go Wil Go!
I really hope you get this spot.
It's sci-fi, it's geek, it's Wil!

I'm keeping some positive thoughts going for you!

All fingers and toes are crossed. I'd love to see you there.

Thinking positive! I can't help but think someone had your number last week...they posted in the comments you'd book in two weeks. Good luck!

Wh00t! I'm rooting for you all the way. =D

That's super Wil! Along w/ everyone else, I'm sending you mucho positive toughts.

WOO!

i am thinking good thoughts in a totally not-even-remotely-jinxing kind of way.

yeah. like that.

OK. I gotta get me some SciFi action on the Myth box. I have showtime and bravo, and I'm not otherwise taping late at night on the weekend. How's about it? Edgy and un-edited movies and shows, in trade for Wil on SciFi? Extra bonus if you're already taping BSG ... ;-)

Mojo! Mojo! Mojo! Mojo!

Potatoes!

I think at this point, knowing that they liked you is great news! It means that your instincts are good!

"Exxxcelent!"

Hey Wil. I've always wanted to tell you that you look a lot like my little brother. Now that I've found your blog, I can! Or...I have...or...wait a sec.

love,
Jun, a geeky cartoon director who always thought Wil looked like her little brother

That's good news so far! :) I was wondering if you had heard anything today. Don't dwell on this over the upcoming weekend or you will drive yourself bonkers with anticipation! Have a good time with the wife and kids, enjoy the weather if it's nice on your coast.

I will be crossing my fingers and hoping for the very best when it is all said and done.

Hey, enjoy some guiness for St. Patty's tomorrow!

Congrats, Wil! So great to hear and thanks for sharing!

Ah, a little relief for the suspense-filled fans! Uber Mojo heading your way!

We are sending good monkey mojo all the way from Raleigh NC. W00t!!!!

oh
and the goat?
Totally keep it...

I'm excited for you Wil, and wishing you all the best - it couldn't happen to a nicer guy. (If you get the gig will you have a say in which babe is selected...?)

Ronnie G - If they were to hire me, they'll probably want to know which girl I have the best chemistry with, but that's not a decision I would want to make. I *did* advise them that they should pick a man and a woman who understand Sci-Fi (even if they're not both hardcore geeks like me) and respect the genre and its fans. They grokked that, and I know they'll take it into consideration when they pick their hosts.

I agree with redheadwriter - this is awesome (of course, it will be *hawesome* if you post with even BETTER news on Monday).

I hope this works out, not only because it sounds like such a perfect fit, but also because you could really bring both an authenticity about your passion for and knowledge of the subject, but also because you could bring in viewers who are NOT sci-fi devotees (like me) to the channel. They will be lucky to have you, assuming everything works out over the weekend.

My way of sending positive mojo your way will be to go and watch some TNG on DVD. So that's what I'm going to do.

I'm from Starfleet, I don't lie.

Wil, why make with the rhetoricals? You know what you want.

And I know what you want. You don't read this website for 5 years without knowing what you want.

I hope you get what you want. Deserving has nothing to do with it, of course. B ut you ARE good enough to get it. And if you don't, it's not your fault, nor is it the end of the world.

P.S. Station!

The Happiest Days of Our Lives

  • These are the stories Wil loves to tell, because they are the closest to his heart: stories about being a huge geek, passing his geeky hobbies and values along to his own children, and vividly painting what it meant to grow up in the ’70s and come of age in the ’80s as part of the video game/D&D/BBS/Star Wars figures generation.

Buy Just A Geek: The Audiobook

  • "This journey is a fascinating read, made even more intimate and fulfilling by Wil's narrative. This is not just an audio book, it's a glimpse into the psyche of the man who considers himself . . . Just a Geek."
