InDigital Episode 11 - CES Part 2
Part Two of our InDigital trip to the 2007 CES
has been released, and is available for your viewing excitement. (It was actually released a few days ago, but I just discovered it now. Oops.)
It's part 2 of InDigital's adventure to the Consumer Electronics Show 2007 in Las Vegas. Like part 1 there's lots and lots of gadgets...some strange, some not, and some that are years off. Wil takes a special trip to another convention too.I haven't watched this show yet (I'm downloading it now) but I'll comment on it later. I'm particularly interested to see how the segment at the porn show turned out. We had a real challenge in editing it (no cutaways because we only had one camera) but I had an idea that I think would make it very funny, so I hope they used it.
UPDATE: Okay, I watched it, and I'm real happy with the way the show ended up. I thought we struck a nice balance of humor and information, and (across our two episodes) gave a representative sample of what the 2007 CES was all about.
The way they edited the porn show segment was great; I would have put in about another 60-90 seconds, but the show was already getting long, so I understand that choice.
Overall, I'm very happy with how the two episodes came together, especially knowing how incredibly hard Hahn and Jessica worked the whole time there were there.
The show is huge and very spread out, too, and just getting from one place to another is an exercise in patience and endurance; by the end of the show, I wanted to sit in a corner and just cover up my head, but we shot our host wraps, instead. I know that Hahn was working 18 hour days that entire week, and Jessica had to shoot for some other companies, too, so of the three of us, they had the hardest work (this leaves out our producer and camera crew, who also worked as hard as they did.)
It's took several intense days of work to put together those two thirty minute shows, and I'm very proud of everyone who worked so hard to make the shows come together.
We're still very low-budget, and we're still working with a minimal crew, but I see great things for us in the future, as Revision3 continues to grow and we expand our audience.
As always, I'm very interested in feedback if you've watched the show.
(via my own link at Netscape, because that's how I'm rollin' today, bitches)

I watched it last night. You're crack about the cell phones (and the cock punch) almost had me spraying energy drink out of my nose.
The porn show segment was funny. I'll be watching the rest of the episodes if you're even close to that funny in the rest of them. ;-)

That picture over on Revision is pretty funny Wil. You are totally checking out the porn lady. Go Wil! I'm downloading the Ep as we speak...

Busted! LOL! I don't blame you, of course...I'd get busted doing the same thing.

Uh, hate to burst your bubble guys, but that's a freeze frame in mid-head turn.
Posted by:Wil | February 05, 2007 at 03:41 PM
That may be, but out of the 35+ minutes of video spliced together, someone in editing chose that particular frame for a reason. :-)
Besides, everyone knows what a devoted husband + step-father you are.

Great ep, but that black shirt has got to go!

I thought the episode was great. The only problem I had with it was audio balance. I found myself adjusting my volume frequently. Mainly because I was watching it at work and didn't want to bother other people.

I should add, that I know you don't have a lot to do with that. I'm not blaming you.

Wow great episodes. I'm not a uber-geek but I know a bit about technology and such and I really enjoyed that you catered for both newbies/clueless and nerds with gentle humour and a fun attitude.
PS - Hahn size DOES matter, I am with you 100% :)
PPS - Wil I liked your presentation style, but your shirts... eek!
Great job! I'm going to give hubby the links tonight when he gets home from work so he can watch too (He's an uber-geek and will get all excited about the wifi/bluetooth/plugnplay/uhhhhhh stuff

Does anyone else find it funny (like, in a 15-year-old, snicker-snicker kind of way) that this post mentions (a) porn; (b) Jessica; and (c) Hahn?
C'mon, I can't be the only one who remembers all that televangelist+porn star drama ... right?

Nice segment, Wil (and Jessica and Hahn). Similar to you, I'm usually excited about technology development coming into new areas of our day-to-day existence, as long as I'm not required to run The Collective OS. You just keep hangin' onto that buggy whip! I'm _still_ looking forward to the wide-scale use of OLEDs, which I knew about years ago when I stopped geeking full-time. Still awaiting those Jetson cars, too. . . Solid-state mass storage - very nice, but holographic storage - now that's cool.
Great, I really need people trying to hack my IP-enabled speakers <sigh> I'm not sure what to think of powercasting, as our environment is already pretty EM noisy; besides, Tesla Coils will always be awesome, even if someone figures out how to wirelessly transmit large amounts of useful power.
In an odd and unrelated way, I appreciated Jessica's land lubber comment; as a SysAdmin/NetAdmin/LAN Manager/Desktop Support Manager/yadda, I used (and still use) the handle LANlubber on The Internets.
My only issue is production in nature, which I'm sure is not your bailiwick - I wish the sound levels were more even and punched up a few decibels. You're easy to hear, Wil, Jessica mostly, too, but Hahn's a challenge.
I know it's just my incredibly juvenile sense of humor (and I actually haven't been chronologically that age in decades), but I find the word cockpunch incredibly amusing. I'm just glad I wasn't drinking or eating anything at the time. . .
"Uh, hate to burst your bubble guys, but that's a freeze frame in mid-head turn." I truly believe you, but you were still lookin' <sh1t-eating grin> And the only reason we even comment is because we're jealous. On a related note, yes, snapkat77, when I first started watching these I sniggered just at Jessica and Hahn, but the p0rn addition is a good kicker. - g^2

OK Cool stuff:
OLED ... yeah, COOL. Just how many years before we can afford an OLED TV?
AVEGA. Very Nice. Yeah everything is goin to be wireless soon. Wait a minute everything is already wireless. Just why a Blue Tooth? Why not a Red Tooth or Purple Tooth?
ATLAS. Whoa baby whoa. Yeah, that's goin' to be standard for the lux sedans and new planet destroying SUV's? Especially the new Mondo SUV from Ford, the Millenium Edition - Ford Extinction.
FUNCTIONAL FASHION. Whoa - I just saw a new industry that will reap in Billions. By stock now.
R2D2: Omigod, give me one now. Does it have a little mechanical saw to cut my pizza?
THE OTHER CONVENTION: WHOA! WHOA! Those girls. Those girls. Am I repeating myself? Sorry. And that one Giiirlll ... saying "I'm goin' back to get my IPhone". Takes the cake! They know where it's at.
Technically: Like how you & Hahn interact. Still wish more than two of you would look at a tech device at once. I liked Jessica at the Fashion show - she lit up there, and that Eleksen Leather Jacket: whew ... was like watching TV go from Black & White to Color - there is a fashion revolution right before our eyes.
Also liked Jessica when you were discussing your "Other Convention Visit" She quieted down a bit. And you think a cock punch is dangerous. Try a pussy punch.
Later ...
You went strong throughout the clip. Very good humour.

Yeah, right. "freeze frame" "mid-head turn".

As usual, great show. The punchiness of sleep deprivation added an amusing edge to the group host shots.
I'm also impressed that you managed to get through the porn star interviews without cracking up or getting flustered. You did, right? ;)
I'm guessing y'all must be getting quite a pile of outtakes on the digital cutting room floor. Any thoughts of an outtake show?

I'll check it out...the first part was very good. It's cool to get the insider look at CES that you don't normally get on the regular news. They tend to throw the entire show into one 3 minute news package. -Justin
