oh my fucking god pictures from the set of watchmen
Apparently, I'm the last Watchmen geek on the planet to hear that Zack Snyder is keeping a rarely-updated blog during the film's production.
I discovered the blog on a good day, though, because today he posted some pictures from the set that gave me a serious geekgasm.
I have a lot of hope for this film, though I seriously doubt it's possible to make it into anything less than 12 hours long and truly do the book justice, because Zack Snyder managed to turn 300 into something not only watchable, but something that was a faithful adaptation of the graphic novel. When I saw these pictures this morning -- especially the ones that are almost 1:1 recreations of panels in the book -- I upgraded my condition from guarded to cautiously optimistic.
However, I am putting the studio on notice: if you pull any studiofuckery with Watchmen, you will see a rampaging horde of geek rage that will make The Phantom Menace look like a Fred Thompson campaign rally.

I don't know why you're worried. They did a fine job with V For Vendetta.

Those shots on the site are great!
I'm upgrading to cautiously optimistic about this, and I'm kind of liking the casting for the Comedian.
I tell you, between this and the Indiana Jones pics, today has been a good day!

If this were a just and righteous universe, the SciFi channel would have turned Watchmen into a two-week miniseries event, the Roots of geekdom.
Instead, we're in this universe, so what the hell.

Finally an answer to the question: Wil Wheaton watches the Watchmen.

I have a geekgasm every time a new Gargoyles comic comes out. I started watching the cartoon when it first came out primarily because Frakes was in it. Then Marina, Brent, and Michael Dorn were on and I was in geek heaven. Now that the original creator has made comics with new stories I get my geek on regularly.

Hey, they've got the Gunga Diner in it! Can't be that bad if they pay that much attention, can it? They've even got a poster for the new issue of Tales of the Black Freighter.
Apparantly, however, Tales won't be in the movie proper, but Snyder has gotten permission & money to make it as an extra for the DVD.

What if they turned it into Watchmen VS THE SILVER SURFER!
Would that make it better or worse for you? hehe

You guys can have 'geekgasm', I'm laying claim to 'studiofuckery'.
I'm waiting for "Watchmen vs. LXG"! ;-)

All right, I'm using "studiofuckery" as well, but for a completely different film. J.J. Abrams KNOWS, yo.
Watchmen pics look awesome. Dragging my mom to see it, definitely.
Oh, and that new pic of Harrison Ford? AWESOME. THAT'S the Indy I know and love and saw when I was 15!

'Studiofuckery'. I am in awe of your descriptive writing prowess. I will also be incorporating this into my vocabulary.

Wil, for future reference, "OMFG pics frm Watchmen" would be the translation for your post's title, in case you wanted to text it to Ryan. Sorry, couldn't help myself... ;)

Don't upgrade from 'cautiously optimistic.' No matter what. Harder to be disappointed by impending studiofuckery. No matter how hard they try, they'll piss SOMEONE off :)
Also, kristinalead, I think the *proper* term that 'the kids these days' use would be 'zOMFG WCHMN PIX'

I *almost* want to see what Geek Rage looks like.
Just your daily stalker check.

Oh sh*t, you are right, MD... and I thought I was being funny... off to my day job...

Didn't Billy Crudup already play a golden god once already ;)
I have to say I really hope they dont do the stop-start action sequences again, that was actually my least favourite part of 300

"if you pull any studiofuckery with Watchmen, you will see a rampaging horde of geek rage that will make The Phantom Menace look like a Fred Thompson campaign rally."
This is an awesome line.

Interesting. Kelly Leak plays Rorschach.

I'm a little concerned at the youth of most of the cast - I hope they can carry off the weariness of the retired, embittered superheroes from the series. Kelly Leak sounds like a fantastic choice for Rorschach.
