Im a regular reader of WWdN, and he posted a photo recently of himself from a charity dinner, posing with two noted web cartoonists - Tycho and Gabe, otherwise known as Jerry and Mike from the comic Penny Arcade.

These are the stories Wil loves to tell, because they are the closest to his heart: stories about being a huge geek, passing his geeky hobbies and values along to his own children, and vividly painting what it meant to grow up in the ’70s and come of age in the ’80s as part of the video game/D&D/BBS/Star Wars figures generation.
Indeed you do :)

You do look very handsome. I like that tie. :) Glad you had a great time.

You look so handsome! Can we go back to Nobhill and you be my date again? And you wear that? :)

Well, I *was* going to ask if you happened to meet a bunch silly Canadians called 'LoadingReadyRun' while there...good thing I checked for their weekly video first! :D
Great that you're the voice of wisdom in the skit...and the 'b-ending'? ^_^

Looks like you could almost do the Frost Report's Class Sketch there...

Hey, man, sorry to comment completely off-topic, but I thought you might be interested in seeing this:

I've heard that some fans are thinking this is strike related...as in CBS / Paramount is retaliating against the fans' support of the strike. I suppose this is a Captain Obvious moment, but ARE THE STUDIOS REALLY THAT STUPID?!

You are such a cutie!

Hi Wil. I am glad to see you smiling. From some of your other posts I've read, it has seemed like you might have an anger issue. So smile = happy = good. Merry Christmas!

I heard the same rumor about Startrek.com. I doubt it has anything to do with fans, and everything to do with studios looking to cut costs wherever they can, citing Force Majeure.
Paramount/CBS (and all the moguls, actually) may be thinking that they can blame unpopular moves they wanted to make all along on the WGA.

I don't smile a lot in pictures because I have really fucked up teeth, not because I have "anger issues."

That's a good point, but the internet is such a powerful PR medium that I can't see them wanting to dispose of that team and possibly the site with the new movie in production. Things are always happening in the Trek fandom...
I really hope you're right and that it's not retaliation.

You guys rock the suits..
but somehow I think you would be just as happy in Jeans and t-shirts
Posted by: FEJ | December 16, 2007 at 02:13 PM
By the way, I like your teeth. They're distinctive. 'Perfect' teeth frighten me.
Posted by: Lori | December 16, 2007 at 02:14 PM
damn, you look hot in that suit.
=D

I think you look great -- and your teeth are just fine! What I think is "fucked up" are the expectations of what teeth should look like.

Wow, you look really great Wil! It took about 5 seconds for me to realize it was you. Seriously, and I say this with a staunch record of heterosexuality, you look very ummm.... Dapper! **gratuitous Happy Days reference** Outstanding tie dude.

Mike's bulked up a little since I saw him last.

The Christmas Tree looks like it's about ready to give the three of you a hug...or eat your brains.
Great picture, Wil. You look really happy to be a part of the Child's Play dinner.

Wil, the photo looks fantastic.
Question - I can't seem to get the story on /. (I'm not a subscriber), so I don't know if you've commented there or not, but what are your thoughts on the layoff of the entire startrek.com team by CBS?

Some damn, fine looking men there. Looks like things went well at the dinner.
Posted by: kristinalead | December 16, 2007 at 05:34 PM
Hey! Nobody said it was Dinner with Evil Mirror Universe Wil! That'd be a total blast!

There is nothing wrong with your teeth as far as I can see and I'm betting most of the population aren't your dentist and don't care if your teeth aren't textbook perfect. I think that your already good looks are enhanced by your smile.

"Rather well" is quite the understatement. This is one of the finest non-family photos I've seen of you -- and your companions come off looking nice, too.
Don't fret the teeth too much, as you can spoil some otherwise picturesque moments. My husband comes off looking far less thrilled than his wife in our wedding photos, largely for the same reason. While he's since gotten dental work he's glad to have had (his are artificial due to childhood poverty), I'd just as soon have had him smiling in the wedding shots, tiny front teeth and all. Thank heaven I have some joyous snapshots since to clarify his position on marriage. :)

Re: the twitter "I just assembled an Xmas compilation that is so awesome, it spans TWO full CDs" ...
One of my favorite party games was introduced to me by a friend who would bring a homemade "Name That Tune"-style Christmas CD with barely recognizable snippets of obscure recordings of holiday music. The game was to see who could name the largest portion of the songs and (much harder) the singers. I usually won, but it was the challenge that I savored, and even the years that I lost were a blast.
