Still Alive . . . in Joust

Still Alive may be my favorite song of 2007, and is certainly the greatest video game song to be recorded since I had Pac-Man fever.

Here's a version of Still Alive, sung about Joust.

My life is complete.

I've been listening to it over and over lately. I just finally got around to playing Portal this weekend.

I am unashamedly in love with this song, couldn't say how many times I have listened to it!

I have searched high and low for a GOOD dancey remix of it so I can inflict it on patrons in one of my DJ sets.

The closest thing I have found, isn't "Still Alive" but it is a moderately awesome dancey portal song.

It's called "The Device has been modified" and it's by Victims of Science.

PS: Wil? This is the bit where I don't embarassingly admit my complete adoration of you in a squee fangirl fashion. I will confine myself to say - You make me proud to be a geek. And a human being. Don't stop writing, the world needs you. :D

Not only did I memorize the lines to Still Alive, I also at one time knew Pac-man Fever (although I only remember snippets today). I am pretty sure I can still sing the original lyrics to the MST3k theme song.

Still Alive is freakin awesome, you have to see what the guy over at vgcats.com did with a little flash music video dedicated to it. Not bad, not bad at all...

I love Still Alive! Best song ever!

Seeing as the Joust version was posted on a podcast, do you listen to the geekcast? I'm curious as to what other podcasts you listen to Wil.

Awesome link, thanks!

Wow of all the things I thought JT (my podcasting cohost) would do to get mentioned on your blog (beating kids at megacon was my first pick) The joust parody wasn't it.

there is a smaller mp3 version http://www.nightgig.com/xfer/jJT-ostrich-alive.mp3

Hey Wil!

Glad you liked the Song! The joust movie spawned a host of Joust related sci-fi parodies on The Slice of SciFi podcast.

The wav file was for mixing into the voicemail show, youcan link the mp3 at http://www.nightgig.com/xfer/jJT-ostrich-alive.mp3

I’m not worries about the bandwidth but 46 MB is to much for that little ditty.

Oh and my Joust Firefly parody Song can be found here http://www.nightgig.com/xfer/joust-fly.mp3

Hey, and if you wanted to come onto The Gigcast (a webcomics Podcast) http://www.thegigcast.com to talk about your books and comic book experiences, that would be great!

Love your work!

Of course, you know Jonathan Coulton is going to be filming a live DVD up in SF soon, right? You've already got your tickets and everything, right? That DVD neeeeeds some Wil out in the crowd!

PacMan fever the Buckner and Garcia classic. I actually still have this on vynil. With all the Pac Man patterns on the sleeve. My son found it digging through my old stuff at my parents house.

Wil,

I just became a member of your blog. Ive been following it for several months now. I enjoy seeing what you put on here and I just read what you said about the song Stay Alive and I agree. That is one of the best songs since PacMan

Hey, Wil, hope you don't mind my highjacking a comment here, to point you to a YouTube video of the Star Trek TNG Episode Guide Song : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKZC0SuvS6s

The Happiest Days of Our Lives

  • These are the stories Wil loves to tell, because they are the closest to his heart: stories about being a huge geek, passing his geeky hobbies and values along to his own children, and vividly painting what it meant to grow up in the ’70s and come of age in the ’80s as part of the video game/D&D/BBS/Star Wars figures generation.

Buy Just A Geek: The Audiobook

  • "This journey is a fascinating read, made even more intimate and fulfilling by Wil's narrative. This is not just an audio book, it's a glimpse into the psyche of the man who considers himself . . . Just a Geek."
