in a room without a window in the corner

I saw the doctor yesterday, and he used that thing from Total Recall to suction about 90 pounds of extremely disgusting stuff out of my head. (Please note that certain aspects of these reports may be exaggerated for various reasons, mostly because I find them amusing.)

He told me that I have to continue Operation Do Nothing At All, I Mean It Nothing At All And I Am Not Even Joking About This for another week, at which time he'll take the splints off my septum and probably clear me for driving and other normal activities, which makes me even happier than my impending return to Guinness consumption.

My sinuses look good, and most of the discomfort that was lingering has gone away, so I'm finally off all the pain meds and things that were making me feel stupid and disoriented and, well, like an idiot on drugs. My strongest painkiller now is extra strength Tylenol.

I still get tired easily, and I'm still easily irritated and irrationally annoyed by random things, so staying off the internets is probably a good idea for the next few days. My doctor says that this is also entirely normal and part of the recovery process, which is quite comforting and makes me feel less looney.

So, since it's unlikely I'll be updating my blog for a bit, I found the perfect picture to leave here for a few days:

Hey Wil! I'b so glad your doze feelz better. I myself have memories of blowing something out of my nose that was the size of a small child. What a relief. Hope you're back to normal soon. Lorraine

Wow, I had no idea sinus surgery was so involved!

I hope you feel better soon Wil. I love your blog.

I'm glad that things are healing as expected. Here's something that's almost as disturbing as the picture you posted. (Excerpts from the Original Star Trek series set to White Rabbit.)

90lbs! Wow. i hope they let you keep your brain! :P

Sounds like your recovery is going well, i hope it continues that way.

Thanks for the bunny pic, that is one picture that is well worth 1000 words :)

Why do I keep hearing the phrase "The shitter was full!" When I look at that pic?

Take care and get better.

I missed the moonar eclipse, but this photo makes up for it - I can see Uranus.

Sorry.

Happy clotting & healing!

Great/sick picture

Hope your de-borgification keeps going well, and you are able to focus on things you want to do while you are lying around the house.

Just remember to keep a pen/paper with you in case your brain decides it wants to give you a good idea that you would normally forget while getting better

REALLY hope that you did not have any voice gigs lined up during this (Or there is enough time that they can do others while waiting for YOUR voice)

OMFG that is priceless! Who makes these things?!? LMFAO!!

We miss ya, Wil.

You didn't say anything 'bout' the BP, hope all is well in that regard. Feel better man, and enjoy the doing nothingness, once you get over the sheer boredom of it, it gets downright tranquil.

Molly, if I had been fast enough, I'd make those things! I love that the mix of gunk and strong medication makes Wil post WRONG pictures. I like to see the return of the deviant. Get better, Wil! I'm enjoying your gross stories.

Hey Wil!

Get better soon! I was just wondering how you went about discovering that your condition needed surgery. Maybe you could tell us that adventure and perhaps even help those of us out who have chronic sinus ailments and may not realize the need for an operation. Of course, get better and then spend time with the family first! :P Thanks!

With all the blood loss you've experienced over the past few weeks you'll need to replenish the iron in your system - Guinness should do the trick. It's purely for medicinal purposes of course :)

Horrifying picture!

Thanks for updating us, Wil--you know you're in all our thoughts. Keep up the good recovery work.

I know how you feel, Wil. I had minor surgery on my forehead Monday and I can't work out or do anything that will raise my blood pressure too high for nearly two weeks. It's the suxxorz. I spent all Monday afternoon watching DVDs and I was ready to go running around outside just to do something but alas, that would cause the sutures to bleed. Carry on my wayward son.

Heh. I've seen a huge Dragon like that, here in Austin.
I tried to find the pic...alas it was before my digital, so it's in a box.

Here's a link I googled for one...not the (in)-correct view, though. ;o)

Mend soon, Wil!

I didn't know they made blow up dolls that big...

Have a nice nose pick for me later.

That picture is brilliant. BRILLIANT I say! Good luck with OPERATION: Piss About. Wish I could get in on that action for a little while...

"Oh, how much is that doggy in the...oh. Ewwwww!" ^_^

Thanks for the chuckle and keeping us illuminated on your recovery.

Rest up and get better! ...well, not that you *sucked* before, or-eh, I'll just stop there.

One thing I recently discovered that I think you *might* like, but I'm not sure how it'll affect you recovery...
Compy died, so I've been reinstalling everything, and I got to Duke3D and ended up getting Duke Nukem on the brain. :) Browsing around on the intertubes led me to some voice acting outtakes of Jon St.John's over on 3DRealm's site; which make things all the cooler.

I'm wondering if you'd already known about this, particularly "Line 2" - I heard it and was suprised at Jon's skill in mimicry.

If you /haven't/ heard it, and laughing may cause complications, please save this for when you're stronger; otherwise:

(P.S. I am still trying to find a pic of Patrick Stewart wearing a chef's hat, then getting a clip of him saying "We must consider *the SOURCE*" for a YTMND or something ^_^ )

Dang - sinus surgery is one of the uglier surgeries around - next to knee surgery. Get to feeling better -

hope you are still on the mend. We miss you, but take you time to get better!! cheers

I hope this doesn't raise your blood pressure too much.

Maybe you shouldn't even look at it.

Well, as you can see, we're all sending wishes for continued speedy recovery!

I sympathize with you on the irritation and fatigue. I remember experiencing that after I had back surgery (they screwed titanium into my spine) and knee surgery (they screwed titanium into my tibia and femur). Between the anesthesia, plus morphine withdrawl (I'd been on a solid drip for two days for the back surgery), and the ensuing stir-craziness, I had quite the bouts of irrational crankiness.

But you know... there ARE other channels besides the History channel... (;

Wow. That's one hell of a prolapsed rectum.

That is some sphincterrific Internettin' there.

The Happiest Days of Our Lives

  • These are the stories Wil loves to tell, because they are the closest to his heart: stories about being a huge geek, passing his geeky hobbies and values along to his own children, and vividly painting what it meant to grow up in the ’70s and come of age in the ’80s as part of the video game/D&D/BBS/Star Wars figures generation.

Buy Just A Geek: The Audiobook

  • "This journey is a fascinating read, made even more intimate and fulfilling by Wil's narrative. This is not just an audio book, it's a glimpse into the psyche of the man who considers himself . . . Just a Geek."
